20 century ago in Luberon
Real treasure of Villelaure, the Roman villa site near the Marderic torrent, has given archeologists many opportunities to marvel at the discovery.
This villa discovered in 1836 attracted many Roman Art experts and in 1899 four large mosaics were found. They were dated IInd and IIIrd centuries after Christ.
Buried in 1913 before WWI to preserve this site, it has since been reopened in 2006 for further excavations : water bassins, terraces, canalisations and a fifth mosaic.
